Appetizer, Main Dish, Snack… You have it all in one. Chickpeas don’t have a strong flavour or taste on their own, therefore it is easier for you to work them out with different flavours and methods of cooking, and it will still taste great.

About my special Sweet & Spicy Chickpeas,you gotta try it.. That’s all I’m gonna say for today 🙂

3 cups chickpeas, precooked
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely diced
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
¾ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon mixed spices
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon chilli
2 cups water

Heat vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions;cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, 6 to 10 minutes.

Add green bell pepper and carrots. Cook while stirring. Add turmeric powder & mixed spices. Stir till it’s all evenly distributed with the ingredients in the pan.

Add chickpeas, water, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, chilli & salt.

Bring to a boil over high heat.

Reduce heat to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chickpeas are very tender and the liquid has thickened, for about 30 minutes.

Serve hot or warm with rice, chapati or naan.
